The Effect of the Resilience of the Elderly with handicapped living alone on Psychological Well-Being on Psychological Well-Being : Mediating Effect of Death Anxiety, Depression

Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the mediation effect of depression and death-anxiety with the effect of resilience of the elderly handicapped living alone and how much it would influence on the psychological well-being. For this purpose, 185 persons of the elderly handicapped living alone over 65 years old who live in Daejeon city and Chungcheongnam-do area participated in this survey and the result was analyzed. The subjects of this study were 185 seniors who are handicapped living alone aged over 65 living in Daejeon city and Chungcheongnam-do. This study analyzed the data through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis and AMOS. The result of this study is as follows.
Firstly, death-anxiety and depression have great influence on the psychological well-being of the elderly handicapped living alone. Conversely, the elderly handicapped living alone who have not experienced death-anxiety and depression would have higher level of the psychological well-being. By inference, the elderly handicapped living alone who have experienced death-anxiety and depression whether higher or lower, they would have low state of psychological well-being. Secondly, the resilience has a direct and influence on the psychological well-being of the elderly handicapped living alone. In other words, the elderly handicapped with high resilience have relatively high psychological well-being state compared to those who would not have.
This conclusion, this paper suggests having resilience to be higher to improve the psychological well-being of the elderly handicapped living alone and death-anxiety and depression to be lower. This study also provides practical and policy implication for wide range of welfare activities for the elderly handicapped living alone.
